Job description

RPS is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our team within the UK Environment Division. We provide various renewable energy project inputs, including ecological appraisals, ornithological surveys, and protected species studies, along with mitigation design, construction, and post-construction monitoring. RPS is a global multi-disciplinary consultancy specializing in the built and natural environment, shaping future landscapes.

What you’ll be doing

• Delivering high-quality support for private and public-sector clients across a diverse workload.
• Planning and conducting habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff, and identifying key receptors and constraints.
• Preparing and delivering technical reports, EcIA, ES chapters, inputting into HRA reports, and designing mitigation measures to meet NPF4 requirements.
• Managing project finances with support from senior management.
• Collaborating with management and clients to generate new work streams and leading tenders.
• Travel will be involved; a full UK driving license is required.

Who we’re looking for

• Full membership of CIEEM and a relevant degree or equivalent.
• Experience in delivering Breadth of ECoW on various projects and preparing EPS and other license applications.
• Possibly an EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or 2 bat or other species) with knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and survey techniques.
• Strong time and project management skills, with excellent influencing and communication abilities to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and external bodies.
