RPS is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our team, part of the wider UK Environment Division. We deliver numerous renewable energy project inputs, including ecological appraisals, ornithological surveys and studies, other protected species surveys, mitigation design and construction, and post-construction supervision and monitoring. RPS is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy specializing in all areas of the built and natural environment, shaping the future of our environmental, social, and economic landscapes.

What you’ll be doing

You will have the opportunity to benefit from an exciting and diverse workload, delivering high-quality support for private and public-sector clients.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and undertaking habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff and survey efforts to identify key receptors, constraints, and opportunities for developments.
  2. Writing and delivering technical reports, EcIA, ES chapters, inputting into HRA reports, and designing and implementing mitigation and compensation measures to meet NPF4 requirements.
  3. Managing project finances with support from senior management.
  4. Working with senior management and clients to generate new work streams, leading tenders for new projects.
  5. Travel will be involved; a full UK driving license is required.
Who we’re looking for

Full membership of CIEEM and a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. Experience in delivering ECoW on various projects, and understanding of preparing and implementing EPS and other licence applications. An EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or 2 bat or other species) is preferred, with knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and survey techniques. Good time and project management skills, along with strong influencing and communication skills, are essential for building relationships with colleagues, clients, and external bodies.
