Senior Ecologist

A respected environmental consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Ecologist to support the continued growth of its Knowle, Solihull office. The team works on an extensive mix of environmental, habitat and species-related projects throughout the Midlands. This position offers the chance to play a key role in delivering positive ecological outcomes while developing your skills within a friendly and supportive team.

Role responsibilities
  • Take the lead on a variety of ecological surveys, impact assessments and mitigation work
  • Produce clear, well-structured technical documents, including preliminary ecological assessments, habitat and species reports, and EcIAs
  • Offer technical oversight and mentoring to less experienced ecologists
  • Work closely with clients, planning authorities and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Manage fieldwork planning, project timelines and budgets
  • Assist with generating new work opportunities and strengthening client relationships
What we're looking for
  • A degree in ecology or another relevant environmental discipline
  • Strong consultancy experience with a proven background in delivering ecological work
  • Holding, or actively progressing towards, protected species licences - particularly for bats or great crested newts
  • A solid understanding of UK legislation, planning frameworks and current ecological practice
  • Confident communication, report-writing and organisational skills
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel for survey work
