Job description

A well-established environmental company based in Guildford is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their team. The organisation delivers a diverse range of projects, from local conservation work to large-scale infrastructure developments.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience within an ecological consultancy or related field
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline; a master’s degree or PhD is advantageous
  • Proficiency in ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning regulations, and ecological management best practices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies
  • Conduct and oversee field surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring
  • Prepare detailed ecological reports, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies
  • Build and maintain client relationships, providing expert advice on ecological issues
  • Support and potentially mentor junior ecologists
  • Ensure project compliance with relevant legislation, planning policies, and environmental standards
