Job description

The client is a growing, multi-disciplinary consultancy specializing in environmental services. With a strong team culture and a commitment to delivering high-quality ecological solutions, the company is expanding its reach to the South of England. Currently based in the North, the company is looking to establish a new office in the South in the near future and is seeking a Senior Ecologist to play a key role in this exciting expansion.

The Senior Ecologist will be responsible for leading, managing, and delivering a variety of complex ecological projects, both independently and as part of the wider ecology team. This role offers flexibility with a mix of site work and remote working from home, with regular interaction with the rest of the ecology team based in Manchester. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of projects from client liaison through to completion, oversee the work of subconsultants, and contribute to business development. Additionally, responsibilities will include undertaking fieldwork, surveying habitats and protected species, writing and reviewing technical reports, and ensuring high-quality delivery on all ecological aspects of the projects.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in ecological consultancy
  • Full UK driving license
  • A relevant degree in ecology or a related field
  • Proven project management experience, including working with clients and managing budgets and timelines
  • Strong knowledge of ecological surveys, including protected species and habitat assessments
  • Experience writing technical reports and environmental impact assessments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A passion for ecology and a commitment to delivering exceptional results
