Job description

RPS, now a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our UK Environment Division. We deliver ecological appraisals, ornithological surveys, protected species studies, mitigation design, and post-construction monitoring for renewable energy projects. RPS is a global multidisciplinary consultancy shaping environmental, social, and economic landscapes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Planning and conducting habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff, and identifying key receptors and constraints.
  • Preparing and delivering technical reports, EcIA, ES chapters, and contributing to HRA reports, along with designing mitigation measures in line with NPF4.
  • Managing project finances with support from senior management.
  • Collaborating with management and clients to generate new work streams and leading tenders.
  • Travel will be involved; a full UK driving license is required.

Who we’re looking for

  • Full CIEEM membership and a degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in delivering ECoW on various projects and knowledge of EPS and license applications.
  • Possibly an EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or 2 bat or species), with knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and survey techniques.
  • Strong project management, influencing, and communication skills to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and external bodies.
