Qualifications

Job description

Due to an increasing workload, RPS is seeking to recruit a Senior Ecologist to join our Planning & Environmental team. The post will be based in our Belfast office, but duties may require travelling throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Planning and Environmental team within RPS has been involved in a wide range of projects, from small-scale housing developments to major road schemes and infrastructure projects.

Our Northern Ireland Office, situated in Belfast, employs over 300 staff and has been providing services to the UK and ROI for the past 70 years. As one of Northern Ireland’s leading multidisciplinary consultancies, we are working on many high-profile Planning, Engineering, Water, Waste, Transport, Project Management, and Environment projects, requiring innovative and motivated staff.

What you’ll be doing
  1. Writing and reporting findings
  2. Communicating effectively with team and clients
  3. Liaising with other members of the RPS Planning & Environmental Team to deliver effective service to our clients
  4. Supporting the Director in business development activities
  5. Input into the production of reports for planning applications and marine license applications or equivalent
  6. Production of feasibility reports
  7. Assistance towards the coordination of multi-disciplinary project teams
  8. Field visits and surveys
  9. Research and analysis
  10. Community and stakeholder consultation
Who we’re looking for
  1. Experience in Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, Bat Surveys, Mammal Surveys
  2. Ability to take projects from concept to completion
  3. Ability to interpret construction/design plans and drawings and understand physical manifestations
  4. Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
  5. Competence in GIS and Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  6. Knowledge of UK and Irish environmental policy and legislation
  7. Interest in all aspects of Ecology
  8. Ability to deliver ecological solutions and manage time to meet deadlines
  9. Strong communication, presentation, and report writing skills
  10. Client-focused with good interpersonal skills and a team approach
  11. Full current driving license and access to transport for site visits
Qualifications
  1. Degree in Ecological-related subject (minimum 2:1 preferred)
  2. CIEEM or equivalent qualification
