Job Description
At WorkLyf Group, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (EC+I) for our global client based in Warrington.
Primary Responsibilities
- Electrical Design, Engineering & Instrumentation of process plants within the food, beverage, personal care & homecare industries.
- Develop engineering specifications for electrical control panels, instrumentation, and electrical installation.
- Specify and discuss instrumentation requirements with the Process Department and suppliers.
- Support sales team in proposals by estimating labour and materials costs using internal and supplier tools.
- Manage control panel manufacturing liaising with suppliers and assist in testing control panels before shipment.
- Create Load/Motor, Instrument, and I/O Schedules from P&ID and equipment data sheets.
- Liaise with site and project teams during installation and support site managers for design queries.
- Design electrical loop diagrams, cable routes, and layouts.
- Approve control panel schematics and layouts, incorporating connection data onto electrical loop diagrams.
- Configure and commission instruments and VSDs, support I/O testing with the project team.
- Understand control bus systems such as Profibus DP, Profibus PA, AS-i, and industrial Ethernet networks.
- Assist with power-up procedures, I/O testing, and early-stage commissioning.
- Prepare site commissioning files with construction status and electrical drawings.
- Complete and issue electrical drawings upon project completion.
Technical Requirements
- Ensure electrical criteria are met from concept to handover as per project documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and certifications in food, beverage, personal care, and home care industries.
- Experience with hazardous area regulations and ATEX.
- Understanding of control systems (Siemens, Rockwell), Profibus DP, Profinet, and Ethernet networks.
- Design experience of safety systems, E-Stops, and interlocks.
- Ability to specify, evaluate, recommend, and source control panel components.
- Experience with instrumentation applications (Flow, Level, Pressure, Temperature, Weight) and suppliers like Endress & Hauser, IFM, Siemens, Mettler Toledo.
- Ability to liaise with end users and after-sales to complete project manuals.
Qualifications
- HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with relevant industry experience.
- 7+ years of experience in electrical process system design and engineering.
- Proficiency in designing control systems from P&IDs and Data Sheets.
- Experience in generating electrical drawings, proposals, and specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of electrical regulations for Hazardous Areas.
