Job summary

Ridgeway Primary Academy in Chasetown is seeking a Senior Early Years Practitioner to work with senior staff in the Sunny Days Nursery. You will provide high-quality education and care aligned with EYFS, safeguarding, and OFSTED requirements, ensuring strong partnerships with parents and external agencies.

The role is permanent, full-time (37 hours/week) and starts as soon as possible, with a pay band matching Grade 6, SCP 9–15 (£27,254–£30,024 p.a.).

Qualifications

• At least Level 3 qualification and recent experience with 0-5 age range.
• Understanding of Ofsted requirements.
• Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience with children and families.
• Experience working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
• Ability to manage and maintain administration requirements.
• Extensive safeguarding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide high levels of care and education for all children attending the settings.
• Keep children safe and provide rich, stimulating play experiences appropriate to age and development.
• Ensure compliance with Ofsted, safeguarding, and Health and Safety policies.
• Coordinate tasks and delegate as needed.
• Develop partnerships with parents/carers to boost involvement in development.
• Work as part of the team to uphold Primitas values.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, parents and carers.

Job description

Job Title: Senior Early Years Practitioner

Salary: Grade 6, SCP 9 – 15 £27,254 – £30,024 per annum (pay award pending)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, daily shift pattern, 7.4 hrs per day between the opening hours of 7.00 am – 6.00 pm

Contract type: Permanent, whole year

Ridgeway is a successful 2 form entry primary school in Chasetown. We currently have 417 pupils on roll in the main school and a further 200 children accessing Early Years provision in our term time Ridgeway Tots twos group and Sunbeams Nursery and Sunny Days Nursery, which is open all year.

Ridgeway Primary Academy has an excellent reputation and provides a lively and creative environment in which to work.School received a further ‘Good’ rating from OFSTED at our last inspection in December 2024 and Sunny Days in July 2024.Ridgeway Primary Academy is one of the founding schools in the Primitas Learning Partnership, a cross phase MAT serving the local area which opened in September 2021. Currently there are seven schools within the partnership; two high schools, four primary schools and a special school. The Trust provides opportunities for the schools to work collaboratively to support school improvement.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Early Years Practitioner to work in partnership with senior staff (this is a deputy level role) to provide a seamless service of education and care which meets the learning & development needs of each child in our Sunny Days Nursery.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide the highest levels of care and education for all children attending the settings
• Ensure that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• Work alongside other senior staff in ensuring that all legislation in relation to Ofsted registration, special needs, safeguarding and Health and Safety is complied with and that company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Co-ordination of tasks and responsibilities and the ability to delegate where necessary
• To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
• Work as part of a team to ensure the Primitas values are maintained
• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, parents and carers

We are looking for someone who:

• At least Level 3 qualified and have recent experience of working within the 0-5 age range
• Have an understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted
• Have an excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families
• Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies
• Be able to manage and maintain administration requirements
• An extensive knowledge of Safeguarding

Desirable attributes

• Experience of managing/supervising staff
• DDSL trained - we will train if necessary
• Paediatric first Aid trained
