An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Early Childhood Practitioner based at Errol Primary School Nursery. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to progress in Early Learning and Childcare.

Errol Primary School and Nursery serves the vibrant community of Errol village and its surrounding areas, known for their rich farmland and natural beauty. We pride ourselves on our attractive nursery setting, which also offers lots of outdoor space in our own nursery garden.

The successful candidate will be contracted to work 36 hours over 45 weeks of the year. The post is permanent, with Perth and Kinross Council, and based at Errol Primary School.

Candidates will be responsible for supporting and motivating a small team, ensuring children have access to high quality learning experiences which are responsive to children's needs and interests.

45 week settings are closed 2 weeks at Christmas and remain open the 1st week of October, 1st week of Easter, and the first 3 weeks of the summer (and for some public and occasional holidays). SECPs working in 45 week settings may be required to work alternating shift patterns to meet the needs of the settings operational hours, and in agreement with their line manager.

You will assist in the organisation and management of the service for the benefit of all children, families and the wider community.

The Senior ECP role directly contributes and supports colleagues in the development of a flexible childcare and early education service, which is appropriate to the needs of young children and their families. Pertinent to this role, is working in partnership with the surrounding community, within the context of both local authority and nursery policies and procedures.

Requirements

You must be able to work on your own initiative and as well as an effective team member.

You will be able to think 'on your feet' and enjoy a varied role taking a lead in the organisation and management of a happy, busy, nursery, putting children's needs first.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues alike.

As a Senior ECP, you will have a wide range of experience in nursery education and be ready to act as lead practitioner to support learners and staff in a manner that brings out the best in all.

You must have SNNB/HNC/SVQ 3 in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional studies e.g. PDA or modules from a relevant degree and have a commitment to work towards a qualification to allow registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Lead Practitioner i.e. BA Childhood Practice within SSSC timescales.

You must also have previous experience of working as an Early Childhood Practitioner in a nursery setting.
