Job summary

Firetecnics, part of Helix International Group, seeks a Dry Riser and Fire Extinguisher Engineer to service dry/wet risers and portable extinguishers at customer sites in London and surrounding areas. You will inspect, test and maintain BS-compliant systems to ensure life safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience servicing and maintaining dry/wet risers to BS 9990.
• Competency qualification relevant to the role (e.g. BS 5306-3 extinguisher tech / BAFE).
• Pressure-testing experience with pumps and gauges.
• Good mechanical / plumbing aptitude and fault-finding skills.
• Comfortable working at height and accessing roofs or risers.
• Excellent customer service and accurate record-keeping.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out six-monthly visual inspections, annual wet tests and five-yearly hydraulic tests of risers.
• Inspect and maintain landing valves, inlet breechings, valves, pipework and cabinets.
• Test wet riser pumps and controls for correct operation and performance.
• Service portable extinguishers, survey, install and commission new units as needed.
• Identify defects, prepare quotations, and complete remedial works to restore compliance.
• Maintain records, certificates and inspection reports for audits.
• Represent the company professionally on customer sites and work safely.
