Job summary

Firetecnics, part of Helix International Group, is seeking a Dry Riser and Fire Extinguisher Engineer to service and maintain dry/wet risers and portable extinguishers at customer sites in London and surrounding areas.

You will perform inspections, testing (including hydraulic pressure tests) and components replacement in line with BS 9990, BS 5306-3 and BS 5306-8, ensuring life-safety systems remain compliant, reliable and fully operational.

Qualifications

• Proven experience servicing dry/wet risers and portable extinguishers.
• Competency qualifications relevant to the role (BAFE/BS standards).
• Pressure-testing with pumps, gauges and related equipment.
• Good mechanical/plumbing aptitude and fault-finding ability.
• Comfortable working at height with roofs/risers access.
• Full UK driving licence and solid record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Carry out six-monthly visual inspections and annual tests of risers.
• Inspect and test landing valves, inlet breechings and cabinets.
• Test wet riser pumps and associated controls for proper operation.
• Carry out servicing and discharge testing of portable extinguishers.
• Prepare quotes for remedial works and replacements.
• Maintain accurate certificates and records; support audits.
