A leading engineering firm in Liverpool is seeking an experienced drainage engineer to join their team. The role involves designing drainage infrastructure, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Candidates should have chartered status, experience in drainage design, and proficiency with relevant software. The firm promotes innovation and inclusivity and values diverse applications.
AtkinsRéalis is one of the leading names in the field of Surface Water Management (SWM) and shapes dialogue within the UK and internationally on how drainage should be an integrated part of green blue infrastructure and masterplanning. By joining our drainage national team you will be part of a multi-disciplinary group with a national remit to work with water companies, local authorities, highways and rail authorities and developers on major projects. You will be involved in developing cutting edge digital services for clients and have the opportunity to develop digital processes to enhance the engineering design process. You will work closely with a technical expert(s) in this field and may develop into the regional point of contact for Surface Water Management and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS), providing technical expertise, mentoring graduate engineers and liaising with key clients across the field.
We are looking for an engineer who has experience in drainage and SuDS and has a keen interest in planning, ecology, landscape architecture, environmental economics and management, digital tools, making nicer places to live and generally looking after our planet. We do not expect you to be an expert in all these things but an interest in all or some is a pre requisite. If you are an engineer who wants to develop your all-round skills and help find solutions for the management of water in the 21st century then a career in Drainage and Stormwater Management at AtkinsRéalis could be the place for you.
We’re ranked as one of LinkedIn's Top 25 Companies where UK professionals want to work and stay once they join. We’ve also made the Times Top 50 employers for women. Our Infrastructure team uses innovation, new approaches and the power of data to help our clients deliver end-to-end projects and programmes for essential future infrastructure. As the work becomes more complex, our employees continue to challenge the status quo. We are committed to engineering better for people and our planet, from our global Engineering Net-Zero programme to creating social value through EDAROTH community housing. We’re proud of our active employee networks creating awareness and allyship for under-represented groups, and we support communities outside AtkinsRéalis, including schools, charities, ex-forces and professionals returning after career breaks.
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer. If applying to this role please do not reference in conversation or include in your application or CV any details of current or previously held security clearance.

We offer family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements and employee networks to support staff from different backgrounds. As an Equal Opportunities Employer, we value applications from all backgrounds, cultures and ability.
