Job description

As a Senior Drainage Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in managing the design and delivery of projects on the Highways account. This would allow for a wide-ranging scope of mainly small and medium sized projects but with some larger projects included. There will be a particular focus on drainage design using Causeway Flow and assisting with developing in-house drainage team capabilities. Causeway Flow experience is highly preferable.

The role involves leading a team to produce technically sound highways engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team to produce technically sound highways engineering solutions
  • Preparing and checking designs in accordance with DMRB and other national design codes
  • Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff
  • Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio
  • Liaising with client and supplier representatives
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work-winning function
  • Driving effective health and safety practices within the team

Requirements for the role include:

  • Developed drainage design experience and expertise within the Highways Civil Engineering field
  • Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, including highways drainage
  • Experienced in undertaking project-related tasks associated with the management of health, safety, and welfare
  • Capable of acting as Engineering Design Lead for a larger project
  • Very good working knowledge of relevant software, in particular Causeway Flow
  • Demonstrates good commercial awareness
  • Has a very good understanding of CDM and risk assessment
  • Successful completion of either the professional review or end-point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence
