Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Sutton, is seeking a senior dosimetrist/clinical physicist or radiographer for a 12‑month fixed‑term maternity cover within the Radiotherapy Physics group. The role focuses on external‑beam planning (VMAT) using RayStation, with 4DCT and breath hold techniques, and involves developing automation in planning processes.

Band 7 with significant treatment‑planning experience; appointment possible at a lower band for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent.
HCPC registration as Radiographer.
Broad knowledge of Radiotherapy.
Experience in Dosimetry 4+ years.
Experience in complex planning including non‑routine techniques.
Specialist training in treatment planning techniques.

Responsibilities

Assist outlining anatomy for organs at risk.
Carefully check treatment plans and dosimetry calculations.
Advise oncologists on plan options and effects on dose.
Attend clinical audit meetings and explain planning issues.
Understand operation of treatment machines and their limitations.
Provide planning advice to radiographers and assist in setup.
Re‑plan treatments when required and optimise doses.
Carry out QA and dosimetry support duties.
Develop protocols for localisation, planning and treatments as part of Quality System.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
