Job summary

The Greyhound Trust in Horley, Surrey, is seeking a senior fundraiser to own the individual giving and legacies strategy end to end. You will set donor communications, appeals and the legacy pipeline, and be responsible for income from individual donors and KPIs in collaboration with the Head of Income Generation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior individual giving/direct marketing or general fundraising role.
• Proven track record of delivering sustained income growth and establishing new programmes of activity.
• Experience owning a budget and KPI set, forecasting, reporting to senior management and adjusting plans in response to performance.
• Proven ability to work with external suppliers and agencies to maximise outcomes and manage budgets.
• Demonstrable experience of donor development, journeys and stewardship at a strategic level.
• Proficient written and verbal communicator with the ability to adapt tone to engage different audiences and write compelling fundraising copy.
• Strong relationship and influencing skills with the ability to gain buy-in without formal authority.
• Excellent stewardship skills with donor communications across letters, emails and journeys.
• Able to plan and prioritise across multiple income streams.
• Experience of legacy marketing and legacy communications.
• CRM proficiency to manage donor relationships and supporter journeys.
• Strong knowledge of charity law, GDPR and the Fundraising Code of Practice.
• Collaborative approach and willingness to develop new areas of fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the individual giving and legacies strategy and annual planning, budgeting and KPIs, reporting performance to the Head of Income Generation.
• Set the direction for a sustainable individual giving programme, growing the supporter base across all channels and developing engagement strategies.
• Own the planning and delivery of engaging, multi-channel fundraising campaigns and appeals.
• Provide advice and support to branches for one-off lottery or other donor initiatives; ensuring compliance with licensing.
• Lead development of donor appeals, regular giving, sponsorship, lottery and donor development programmes.
• Maximise digital fundraising opportunities while recognising the value of non-digital approaches for certain audiences.
• Own email marketing and online supporter journeys.
• Lead legacy giving and in-memory fundraising strategy.
• Monthly analysis of income and expenditure against KPIs, plus forecasting.
• Design and implement a stewardship programme to increase average value and long-term support.
• Ensure data collection, management, storage and destruction comply with data protection law.
• Collaborate with brand, marketing, retail and homing teams to integrate donor products.
• Manage external suppliers, setting briefs and budgets, and holding them to account.
• Act as the organisation’s senior specialist on individual giving and legacies, advising staff and volunteers.
