Job summary

Nottingham City Council in Nottingham is seeking a qualified Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to join the DoLS Team in Clifton Cornerstone. The role involves providing clinical supervision to BIAs, overseeing the quality of work, and balancing workloads within a multidisciplinary setting.

You will lead training and development, respond to complex queries, and help the team navigate changes from recent court rulings while maintaining high standards of practice.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Best Interests Assessor (BIA) undertaking complex DoLS assessments.
• Ability to supervise, develop and train others and manage performance.
• Promote good practice and contribute to continual improvement in a changing legal landscape.
• Ability to work under stress and manage priorities within a team.
• A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision to BIAs within the Council.
• Oversee quality of work undertaken by Agency BIAs.
• Allocate and balance workloads and respond to complex queries.
• Lead training and development, and oversee Court of Protection work.
• Contribute to changes related to the Supreme Court ruling and Liberty Protection Safeguards.
