Aventa is seeking, on behalf of our client—a leading developer in the offshore renewable energy sector—a Senior Diving Specialist to join their QHSE Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a team of skilled professionals on various projects across APAC, UK, USA, and EU regions, contributing to one of the most significant offshore wind developments in the region.
Regions: either UK or Denmark (for local candidates in Denmark). No specific work location in either country, travel between locations is required.
Responsibilities
- Support risk owner through the entire process.
- Offer expert advice, guidance, and technical support to HSE Risk Owner during planning, pre-mobilization, mobilization, and execution phases of diving activities and campaigns.
Tasks
- Ensure diving operations comply with national diving legislation, Ørsted’s Diving requirements, and IMCA Guidelines.
- Ensure risk assessments are correct and diving projects are carried out safely.
- Develop and review diving project plans.
- Ensure all diving equipment is included in PMS system and is in-date.
- Verify that the diving contractor can recover an unconscious diver, with recovery exercises performed and accepted prior to operations.
- Confirm that the dive team is qualified and holds necessary certifications.
- Review dive logs daily and monitor subsea video recordings for safety and quality issues.
- Obtain necessary permits for offshore diving operations from relevant authorities.
- Implement, document, communicate, and enforce industry standards, company policies, and procedures.
- Close out all diving systems design audits.
- Analyze dive statistics and propose improvements.
- Interface with contractors and stakeholders on HSE issues.
- Participate in project HIRA’s and act as focal point for daily operations and technical support.
- Investigate diving incidents and share learnings.
- Conduct site visits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, policies, and standards.
- Report on contractor accidents, incidents, and near misses.

- Execution
- Project close-out
Working Conditions
- Standard hours with possible extended or unsociable hours for operational needs.
- Both on-shore and off-shore work, including site visits.
Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
- IMCA Air or Saturation Diving Supervisor or IMCA auditor certificate.
- 15+ years diving managerial experience in renewable/O&G industry.
- Thorough knowledge of IMCA ACOPs and relevant legislation/guidance.
- Technical expertise in subsea installations, cable interventions, survey, and inspection work.
- Recent experience supporting offshore diving operations.
- Familiarity with underwater inspection/construction techniques and equipment.
- Up-to-date with IMCA guidelines, IOGP practices, and relevant legislation (e.g., UK HSE ACOP, IMO regulations).
- Proficiency with IT systems such as SAP, Excel, Word; knowledge of Acconex is beneficial.
Role Objectives
- Ensure safe planning and execution of diving activities.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and guidelines.
- Reduce LTIs to ALARP.
- Main responsibility for UK projects and support for global projects.
