About the Role

This highly experienced, dynamic leader leads the product marketing team for the Academic Leader and Funder part of the Elsevier portfolio. This leader will be a successful people leader with a proven track record of coaching high-performing teams, developing talent at all levels, and creating an inclusive, empowering team culture. Reporting to the VP of Audience Marketing, this role oversees competitive intelligence, messaging, and solution-specific marketing plans for SaaS, data, and analytics products. A critical ‘voice of the customer’ champion, this position maintains broad awareness of market, customer, and competitor dynamics to inform impactful messaging, positioning, and campaigns to drive new business and retention.

Responsibilities

  1. Developing go-to-market strategies for core product releases and ensuring successful execution.
  2. Overseeing the global go-to-market approach for individual solutions in line with company goals and key stakeholder alignment, including sales, product development, and the executive team.
  3. Managing operations of the Product Marketing team, including direct reports, budget planning, and reporting.
  4. Establishing KPIs to measure marketing effectiveness.
  5. Conducting market research to identify trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  6. Owning customer insights and competitive intelligence programs, creating feedback loops between marketing, sales, and product teams.
  7. Monitoring market trends to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  8. Collaborating with portfolio marketing and product management to develop positioning and value propositions for differentiation.
  9. Delivering solution-level messaging and content for marketing and sales.
  10. Supporting sales with content like pitch decks and fact sheets.
  11. Building a valued product marketing organization and serving as a mentor to the team.

Requirements

  1. 10+ years of product marketing experience in SaaS, with at least 5 years managing teams.
  2. Excellent communication skills to articulate strategies and collaborate cross-functionally.
  3. Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills for actionable solutions.
  5. Strategic thinking for long-term planning considering market trends and competition.
  6. Effective collaboration skills with sales, product management, and support teams.

  8. Experience managing stakeholder relationships, including with senior leadership.
