Job Description

As the Senior Director of Global Facilities, Equipment, and Reliability at Biogen, you will be the leading figure in our Facilities Engineering Technical Authority function. Reporting to the VP of Global Engineering and Facilities, you will champion subject matter expertise across diverse facilities engineering disciplines such as HVAC, Mechanical, Clean Utilities, Plant Utilities, Energy, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls. Your comprehensive understanding of asset lifecycle will be pivotal in optimizing performance, design, qualification, operation, maintenance, and reliability. This position is integral to driving technical innovation, enhancing productivity, and ensuring compliance within Biogen's global operations.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead the strategic technical direction for facility assets, ensuring alignment with industry standards and operational excellence.
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers and SMEs, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement and preventative maintenance.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams across sites, providing technology support and engineering solutions that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Champion innovation in facilities engineering to incorporate new technologies that enhance building performance and sustainability.
  • Oversee the execution of the technical portion of capital projects, ensuring technical standards are met and reliability is integrated from design to operation.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Reliability Engineering program, including End-of-Life and Single-Point-of-Failure strategies, promoting best practices across the enterprise.
  • Partner with internal and external manufacturing sites to uphold technical standards and address technical challenges.
  • Foster external collaborations with industry leaders, sharing insights and adopting transformative technologies.

Qualifications
Required Skills:
  • 15+ years of experience in Facilities Engineering within the Biotech or Pharma industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or a related field in Engineering.
  • Deep experience in facilities engineering disciplines and asset reliability and lifecycle management.
  • Thorough understanding of PDMA, FDA, EMEA regulations, and applicable building codes.
  • Proven ability to influence at both site and enterprise levels.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of asset lifecycle data analytics.
  • Networked within the life science industry, with active participation in forums.
  • Proficiency in reliability engineering and management of end-of-life and single points of failure programs.
  • Experience with clean utility systems in a GMP environment.
Skills:
  • PE credential.
  • Master's or PhD in an engineering discipline.
Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $212,000 – $292,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short-term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit, and company performance.
