Senior Director, Group Financial Controller

The Vacancy

We have an opportunity for an experienced Director, Financial Controller to join our business!

The Director, Financial Controller will play a key role in supporting the CFO and the wider IRIS Group Finance department during a period of change and transformation. Responsibilities include consolidated financial reporting, external audit, tax, credit control, cash and treasury functions, interaction with lenders and investors, and working alongside finance & systems transformation.

You will be based in our Heathrow office, reporting to the CFO, and acting as their deputy on all financial and credit control matters. The role involves working with multiple systems and dispersed teams across the UK, leading a team across financial and credit control.

This role is suited for a qualified accountant with experience in financial control roles, leading larger teams with primary responsibility for reporting, control, tax, and audit, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What will you be doing?

1. Lead the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and commentary for Board reports, investor updates, and lender reporting.
2. Oversee cash flow forecasts and ensure proactive financial planning and liquidity management.
3. Manage statutory accounts for multiple entities within the Group.
4. Supervise VAT returns, corporate tax filings, and R&D tax credit claims.
5. Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audits.
6. Provide technical accounting guidance to the finance team.
7. Drive process improvements, automation, and best practices.
8. Review supplier payments and oversee banking operations.
9. Manage insurance renewals, finance risk register, and Business Continuity Plan.
10. Maintain the finance manual and conduct variance analysis.
11. Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and financial advisors.
12. Support the CFO strategically and operationally.
13. Develop the finance team and oversee credit control functions.

What we are seeking

• Experience as a Group Financial Controller in Software/SaaS across multiple countries.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant PQE.
• Experience in Private Equity-backed, high-growth environments.
• Practice experience is desirable.
• Understanding of SaaS metrics like ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, LTV.
• Proven experience in scaling finance functions and financial reporting.
• Experience with statutory reporting, audits, tax, and VAT.
• Leadership experience with finance teams.
• Ability to collaborate with C-suite, investors, and external advisors.
• Strong presentation skills for Board and stakeholder meetings.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to build cross-functional relationships.
• High integrity, ownership, and a proactive mindset in a fast-paced environment.
