Job description

We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Director, Group Financial Controller to join our business!

The Senior Director, Group Financial Controller will support the CFO and the IRIS Group Finance department during a period of change and transformation. Responsibilities include overseeing consolidated financial reporting, external audits, tax, credit control, cash and treasury functions, liaising with lenders and investors, and contributing to finance & systems transformation.

This role is based at our Heathrow office, reporting to the CFO, and acting as their deputy on financial and credit control matters.

The position involves working with multiple systems and dispersed teams across the UK due to recent acquisitions. You will lead a team across financial and credit control functions.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with experience in financial control roles, leading large teams with responsibilities for reporting, control, tax, and audit. Excellent communication skills, the ability to manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and commentary for reports and investor updates.
  2. Oversee cash flow forecasts and liquidity management.
  3. Manage the production of statutory accounts for multiple entities.
  4. Supervise VAT, corporate tax, and R&D tax credit filings.
  5. Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audits.
  6. Provide technical accounting guidance and promote best practices.
  7. Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation.
  8. Review supplier payments and oversee banking operations.
  9. Manage insurance renewals and maintain the finance risk register and Business Continuity Plan.
  10. Keep the Group Finance Manual updated and aligned with policies.
  11. Conduct variance analysis and identify financial trends and risks.
  12. Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and financial advisors.
  13. Support the CFO and foster team development.
  14. Lead and manage a finance team of approximately 30 staff, including credit control.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recent experience as a Group Financial Controller in Software or SaaS, operating across multiple countries.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant PQE.
  • Experience in a Private Equity-backed, high-growth environment.
  • Practice experience is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS metrics such as ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, LTV, and net revenue retention.
  • Proven ability to scale finance functions in tech or SaaS companies.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience preparing financials for Board, lenders, and investors.
  • Hands-on with statutory reporting, audits, tax, and VAT compliance.
  • Experience managing finance teams, including mentoring staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with C-suite, department heads, and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable presenting in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, ownership mindset.
