Job Description:

Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

As part of our ongoing pursuit of excellence, we kicked off a significant Transformation Project to introduce S/4HANA, and as such we have created a number of positions to support this enterprise project.

The Senior Director, Global Head of Data - Operations is the ultimate data owner, responsible and single point of contact for all data within the Operations domain. Key responsibilities include ensuring effective data governance, operational data continuity, data quality, integrity, consistency and driving global harmonisation of data models towards the “One Lonza” vision. The role requires close collaboration with internal and external partners, such as Nexus project teams, Global Supply Chain and Operations, Quality, IT and Global Master Data or Data Structure Management teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be a well-recognised influential leader within Operations with a direct line to Operations Sr. leadership, being able to resolve roadblocks, secure resources and action plans at large scale.
  • Engage with Nexus teams and business / global function partners to ensure representation and delivery of Nexus program objectives within Operations.
  • Identify, request, mobilise and train vital resources at all levels (platform, site) to implement/action large scale changes like transformational projects.
  • Responsible to define, implement and maintain an efficient data and information architecture for the overall data domain of Operations.
  • Drive, implement and deliver standardisation, harmonisation and cleansing of data, data models and other information architecture across the entire Operations domain in line with Nexus and Global Master Data objectives.
  • Establish and implement robust data governance to maintain data consistency and integrity. Provide oversight for the Operations data space. Act as governance leader by driving and implementing strategies, best-practices and standards. Establish an effective data organisation including setting of objectives, cascade them down and supervise delivery. Coordinate with other Data domains to ensure a consistent end-to-end coordinated approach.
  • Establish best-in class data (life cycle) management processes and ensure integration with business processes.
  • Support the Nexus data migration. Ensure the data quality across the business to enable the data migration as per schedule. This applies especially for data cleansing or mapping activities and validations.
  • Report on progress to relevant Nexus project boards and committees. Identify and report risks and issues and define actionable mitigations plans.

Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Demonstrated ability in data leadership roles within sophisticated, matrixed organisations
  • Extensive experience within the Life Science industry having a deep knowledge in supply chain, manufacturing and quality
  • Extensive expertise in SAP ERP data and/or CDMO data
  • Structured, strategic, and conceptual problem solver
