About the Role

As Director/Sr Director of Cloud Technology & Infrastructure, you will lead the entire platform engineering organization. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical leadership to the team, focusing on simplifying and accelerating developer experience, leading developer platform, application hosting platform, observability, and cloud governance
  • Building a world-class team of platform engineers across the US, UK, and India, including supporting a development center in India and attracting top talent there
  • Aligning roadmaps, communication strategies, and platform evolution with senior management and user feedback
  • Acting as a product manager to understand internal customer needs and pain points
  • Engaging with external vendors in negotiations and driving Roku’s cloud governance program, including build vs buy decisions

Leadership Skills

  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams, inspiring and retaining talent
  • Excellent communication skills to align diverse stakeholders, from developers to executives
  • Enjoyment in building internal platforms, fostering cross-team collaboration, influencing system architecture, and taking ownership of initiatives

Technical Skills

  • 10+ years in strategic engineering leadership, managing teams of 20+ and developing managers
  • Ability to engage senior leadership and drive strategic outcomes
  • Experience working with internal users as customers
  • Strong architectural skills for enhancing developer experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, etc.), Gitlab, Artifactory, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and deployment architectures
  • Deep knowledge of one cloud provider (AWS or GCP) and working knowledge of the other
  • Experience with cloud cost governance and forecasting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
