Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Director to lead the transformation of AI-ready data preparation across high-priority AI use cases. Your remit includes building reusable, self-service data products, establishing data contracts and quality gates, and delivering scalable pipelines on approved cloud platforms.

You will head a cross-functional engineering organization across onshore and offshore teams, driving adoption, compliance, and value realization while partnering with security and data

Qualifications

• Extensive data engineering leadership delivering production-grade data products and platforms supporting AI/ML and analytics.
• Data product and DataOps expertise: contracts, lineage, quality SLAs, CI/CD for data, automated testing, metadata-driven pipelines.
• Integration, orchestration, and storage: batch/streaming integration, workflow orchestration, scalable cloud storage/processing.
• Security and obfuscation: enterprise security controls, secure data transfer, obfuscation techniques in regulated environments.
• Architecture and design patterns: enterprise data/application design and microservices/event-driven approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and execution for AI-ready data preparation across high priority AI use cases, shifting to reusable data products with automation.
• Build, own, and operate enterprise data products for AI/ML and analytics with schemas, SLAs, data contracts, and quality rules.
• Implement DataOps practices and AI-driven automation for ingestion, transformation, testing, and deployment with self-serve discovery.
• Design and run end-to-end data pipelines with scalable orchestration, metadata-driven processing, and cost optimisation on sanctioned cloud platforms.
• Lead and grow engineering teams across onshore and offshore locations, manage suppliers, and ensure on-time delivery.
