Job description

Are you technically IT experienced, highly organised, and passionate about a healthier Wales for everyone?

We deliver and improve IT services for Public Health Wales - the national public health organisation for the whole of Wales.

In this exciting new role as a Technical IT Project Manager, you’ll support our experienced Digital Technical Services Team and the wider operational IT Teams by project managing physical infrastructure hardware and software replacement projects. You will liaise with business users, technical leads, and engineers to deliver improvements to IT services and security on time.

Our IT teams support firewalls, wireless and wired networks, clinical and admin server applications, and host services for third-party providers. We also support end-user devices, analysers, and medical IoT devices around Wales. We are involved in major national and local replacement projects and are expanding our use of cloud and AI services.

Main duties of the job
  1. Be responsible for the overall progress of sometimes competing, complex IT projects and resource management, initiating corrective actions where appropriate.
  2. Ensure the scope and objectives of the programmes are clear, and manage interdependencies.
  3. Attend stakeholder meetings to communicate upcoming service changes that may require IT resources and project management. Collaborate with senior managers and teams to identify opportunities for continual service improvement using programme and project management methodologies.
