Senior Digital IT Support Technician

You will work in one of the most progressive and innovative Informatics departments in the NHS, backed by significant multi‑million‑pound investment. From introducing enterprise‑wide Electronic Patient Records (EPR) to data warehousing and business intelligence that support the decision‑making of clinical and operational staff, we are using technology to increase organisational efficiency and improve patient health outcomes.

In this hands‑on, senior technical role, you will help deliver efficient, responsive and effective support services. By keeping our IT operating at peak performance, you will contribute high‑quality patient care across MFT's various sites. A key point of contact for hardware and software issues, you can expect to have practical involvement in tracking and resolving queries, incidents, problems and requests relating to both equipment and applications.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide first‑, second‑ and third‑line support for the PC client environment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for end users
  • Track and manage incidents, problems and service requests through the service‑desk system
  • Support system administration tasks such as backups, service continuity and configuration management
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of networking equipment, servers and mail systems
  • Collaborate with other teams to implement and support new digital solutions
Skills & Knowledge Required
  • Experience working in a customer‑facing IT infrastructure support role
  • Knowledge of local area networks, wide area networks, server support and email systems
  • Proven experience using service‑desk and call‑distribution systems
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure, including out‑of‑hours shifts
Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree or equivalent, or relevant experience
  • Evidence of personal development
Desirable
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in an IT related subject
  • Experience in an NHS IT environment
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of internet/intranet concepts
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft products including Office Suite, SCCM
  • Project management methodology experience
