Job summary

IO is seeking a Senior Digital Engineering Consultant to lead BIM consultancy services, working directly with clients and cross‑disciplinary teams to implement digital solutions on major projects.

The successful candidate will coordinate BIM models, perform design reviews, guide information management and digital workflows, and mentor junior staff while supporting business development. Hybrid work is three days per week in the office; eligibility for UK SC clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in digital engineering, BIM coordination, or information management in infrastructure or construction.
• Hands-on proficiency with BIM tools: Solibri, Autodesk Forma, ISO 19650.
• Strong understanding of digital workflows: validation, clash detection, model coordination.
• Experience in client-facing consultancy with strong communication.
• Ability to lead projects and mentor team members.
• Familiarity with project management and commercial aspects of delivery.
• UK passport holder eligible for SC security clearance.

Due to continued growth and strategic initiatives, our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Digital Engineering Consultant. This pivotal role involves leading the delivery of BIM consultancy services, working directly with clients and cross-disciplinary teams to implement digital solutions. The position presents an exciting opportunity to influence project outcomes and support the adoption of digital practices across projects and teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver BIM and digital engineering solutions in accordance with client briefs and industry standards.
• Provide expert guidance on information management, BIM coordination, and digital workflows.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop digital strategies tailored to project requirements.
• Conduct design reviews and validation within BIM platforms to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support project delivery through effective coordination of BIM models, clash detection, and data management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing best practices and innovative approaches.
• Mentor junior team members, fostering skills development and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in digital engineering, BIM coordination, or information management within the infrastructure or construction sectors.
• Hands-on proficiency with industry-standard BIM tools such as Solibri, Autodesk Forma (formerly ACC), and ISO 19650 frameworks.
• Strong understanding of digital workflows, including information validation, clash detection, and model coordination.
• Experience in client-facing consultancy roles, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrable ability to lead projects and mentor team members effectively.
• Familiarity with project management practices and an appreciation for commercial aspects of project delivery.
• UK passport holder with eligibility for SC security clearance.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Prior experience working in environments that require digital innovation and process optimisation.
• Knowledge of additional digital tools or software relevant to BIM and information management.
• Business development experience, including preparing proposals or bids.
• Strong soft skills, including leadership, collaboration, and adaptability.

Note:

Only candidates with the right to work in the UK and eligibility for SC clearance will be considered. Proximity to Bristol, London, or Winchester is preferred but not essential. Hybrid working is 3 days per week in the office.
