Job description

SENIOR DIGITAL DESIGNER, circa £36k - £38k DOE

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Digital Designer to lead the creation of exceptional digital experiences across our brand.

As the main bus operator across Edinburgh and the Lothians, Lothian is dedicated to delivering an outstanding customer experience offering a city-wide network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Operating for over 100 years, Lothian is one of the region’s largest employers with over 2,600 colleagues.

About You:

You will play a key role in driving design strategy, conceptual development, and the execution of digital assets across various platforms including web, mobile, email, social media, and digital advertising.

As a senior member of the creative team, you’ll collaborate closely with digital/graphic designers, developers, marketers, and comms professionals to ensure our digital presence is both visually compelling and highly functional.

You’ll be passionate about developing engaging digital creative, pushing your ideas and designs to create standout and impact. You’ll be a strong team player with initiative, reinforced by a diverse portfolio which demonstrates great digital design for online campaigns.

The successful candidate will work across a variety of projects ranging from UX and web design to social media campaigns, digital marketing and the development of brands. A self-motivated individual, you will be working solo on some projects as well as within the larger team on others, from idea through to delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of high-quality digital assets across multiple platforms and campaigns.
  • Translate creative briefs into effective design concepts and user-centric solutions.
  • Maintain and evolve brand consistency across all digital touchpoints.
  • Assist with the execution of creative visuals for social media.
  • Storyboard and produce motion graphics.
  • Mentor junior designers, providing feedback and supporting their growth.
  • Collaborate with UX, development, and marketing teams to ensure seamless user experiences.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Participate in brainstorming and creative ideation sessions.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience with a strong portfolio showcasing web, mobile, and campaign work.
  • Excellent all round design skills, with proven experience in digital and online campaigns.
  • Research knowledge and an understanding in best practice web design and CRO.
  • Experience in creating UX-focused wireframes and UI designs for websites.
  • Experience in creating digital asset for Google Ads and Meta platforms.
  • Knowledge of best practice for digital touchpoints including Google, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Confidently able to present your vision and ideas to internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator skills (After Effects experience would be an advantage).
  • Knowledge and understanding of brand application and guardianship.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must have a meticulous eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Basic animation and video skills to create digital assets would be advantageous.
