JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Senior Digital Content Officer

Job Family: Marketing

Job Family Definition

Roles within the Marketing function are responsible for developing and delivering the Eden Project’s brand strategy to build brand profile, awareness and reputation, extending and diversifying its audience reach and engagement, and maximising the delivery of commercial and cause related revenue streams.

The division includes Eden’s brand and audience development, community campaigns, destination and commercial marketing, consumer insight, communications, digital experience and delivery, membership and ticketing activities, building a lasting relationship with current and future audiences, and driving value and revenue in the process.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Snr Marketing Manager, this role is responsible for helping develop and deliver Eden Project’s marketing content across its digital channels, predominantly its websites and social media platforms – effectively communicating the brand, and producing content that drives engagement and footfall whilst supporting our mission.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create digital marketing content for the Eden Project, in line with the strategy and brand guidelines. Work with the Snr Digital Design Manager and the Snr Marketing Manager to deliver effective campaigns that maximise customer engagement and conversions.

  • Create and maintain content for Eden Project websites, deliver marketing campaigns to drive visitation, and boost engagement with Eden’s Mission to establish the organisation as a thought leader in the field of environmentalism and sustainability.

  • Lead on social media community management to enhance online engagement, provide high quality customer service and manage reputational risk.

  • Monitor and analyse the effectiveness of the Marketing Team’s website and social media output creating campaign summaries and performance reports on a regular basis to evaluate activities and optimise campaigns.

  • Implement the influencer marketing strategy. Manage partnerships from start to finish including defining campaign objectives, producing creative briefs, agency liaison, overseeing content creation and reporting on deliverables. Maintain relationships for future collaborations.
  • Manage social media giveaways to promote Eden Project Cornwall, working with external stakeholders to bolster prize and collaboration opportunities.
  • Maintain our Image Library ensuring key images are uploaded in line with tagging system and relevant credits to enable the wider team to access.
  • Support with general marketing and financial activity including raising POs etc where necessary.

Demands of the Role

Education and Qualifications

Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant field.

Marketing qualification not essential, but evidence of appropriate professional development is desired.

Knowledge and Skills

An accomplished digital content practitioner with several years’ experience in a similar role, demonstrating relevant theoretical knowledge and technical skills. The jobholder will be highly skilled in copywriting and producing visual assets for websites, social media and email marketing, and must have experience of using content management systems (CMS) ideally Drupal, and CRM ideally Microsoft Dynamics, as well as an awareness of accessibility and usability standards. Skills in photography and videography (use of a DSLR camera, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Sprout Social) required. Knowledge of Google Analytics and basic HTML desirable.
Must have experience of social media community management and the reputational issues associated with it.

Decision Making

Manages and priorities own workload, working to short term objectives, planning towards longer-term objectives and schedules. Uses professional and creative judgement to make day-to-day decisions on digital content and social media management – including troubleshooting on challenging issues in the public domain, and knowing when to refer to a manager.

Practical and capable self-starter, able to work under pressure with limited supervision. This role demands a good level of flexibility and ‘juggling’ of tasks plus the ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines. Reactive problem solver, as there is an ongoing requirement for the jobholder to generate innovative ideas and practical solutions to Eden’s digital needs, as well as fulfil marketing briefs from team members. Key to this role is researching and implementing current and new trends in all aspects of digital content, using best practice and concepts available.

People and Asset Management

Responsible for managing own IT equipment. Supports and advises digital content solutions (and – where relevant – apprentices, work experience students and interns).

Communication and Visitor Experience

Well-developed communications skills are integral to this role, with the postholder producing digital output that reaches an audience of millions each week. Required to manage, and deliver communications through a variety of channels and mediums. Liaises, consults and collaborate with clients within all departments across Eden. The post includes interaction with external stakeholders such as social media influencers, agents sponsors, photographers and videographers.

Operational Environment

Hybrid office and home working, with some site visits, in particular for photography, filming or social media influencer outreach. Offsite to attend relevant courses or events. Some out of hours work (evenings and weekends) will be required, to support visitor-facing events.

Additional Features

The jobholder is required to continuously develop their digital marketing expertise and keep abreast of industry trends and software updates.
