Are you a highly skilled digital communicator with a passion for visual storytelling and a flair for leadership? Do you want to help shape how one of the country’s largest and highest-performing local authorities connects with its residents, staff, and stakeholders?

The Role:

We’re looking for a confident, creative, and technically accomplished individual to join our Communications Team as a Senior Digital Communications Officer. This is a pivotal role in our digital-first communications strategy - leading the creation of compelling content that brings Hampshire County Council’s work to life across social media, web, and internal channels.

From major infrastructure projects to community initiatives, your work will help people understand, connect with, and benefit from the services we provide.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development of high-impact video and photography content to support strategic campaigns and day-to-day communications.
  • Line manage and mentor a Digital Communications Officer and a Corporate Videographer/Photographer.
  • Plan and deliver creative briefs from concept to completion, including filming, editing, sound design, and storyboarding.
  • Advise colleagues on digital best practice, trends, and governance - including image consent and copyright compliance.
  • Capture content at events and locations.
  • Monitor performance and use analytics to refine and improve content strategies.

What we’re looking for:

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification, plus significant experience in a fast-paced multimedia or communications environment.
  • Advanced skills in photography, videography, and editing - including Adobe Creative Cloud and professional camera equipment.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative eye and leadership skills.
  • Someone who thrives under pressure, meets deadlines, and maintains high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Team player who can also work independently, solve problems proactively, and communicate clearly and confidently.
