About The Royal Marsden Hospital

The Royal Marsden Hospital is one of Europe’s largest Oncology centres and was the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer research, diagnosis, treatment, and education, with sites in Chelsea, Sutton, and Cavendish Square London. The Diagnostic Cross-sectional Imaging service provides essential services, including whole-body and high-quality oncology imaging, Mammography (including large field and interventional procedures), Ultrasound, general X-Ray, IR, fluoroscopy, and theatres.

Job Opportunity

We are inviting applications from enthusiastic mammography-trained radiographers for a Band 7 core mammographer position, fixed for 12 months at the Sutton site. Applicants should have significant postgraduate experience and a postgraduate certificate in mammography. The successful candidate will be an innovative, highly motivated radiographer with good communication skills, eager to contribute positively to the expanding breast service.

Main Duties
  • Provide a high-quality diagnostic imaging service.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification procedures.
  • Perform imaging examinations in accordance with The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and IR(ME)R guidelines, adhering to local radiation protection protocols.
  • Maintain high standards in Mammography imaging and review images.
  • Advise patients and clinicians on preparation for specialized imaging examinations and obtain necessary consent.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
  • State registration with HCPC
  • DCR/BSc in Radiography
  • Postgraduate experience in Mammography
  • Postgraduate certificate in Mammography
  • Cannulation certificate or completed workbook
Experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Leadership and team-building experience
  • Experience supervising diagnostic radiographer staff in Mammography
Skills and Abilities
  • Clear communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in IT systems and word processing software
  • Teamwork capability
