A community healthcare provider in Brighton is seeking a Band 7 Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to deliver integrated care for diabetic patients. The role involves working in a multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality specialist care, and mentoring junior staff. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to work within our Podiatry team but are open to receiving applications for a development post of B6 to B7 from those with relevant experience.
The Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist will work in partnership with patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes with moderate, high risk and active foot problems in a community setting, aiming to improve outcomes for patients. This includes the development of clinic‑based care, home visits, along with healthcare professional and patient education programmes for diabetes management.
Diabetes Care for You is a multidisciplinary community diabetes service covering Brighton, Hove, High Weald and the Havens in East Sussex. The service comprises consultants, nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, psychologists and support staff, all contributing to the development of this innovative service.
The podiatrists also support the Multi‑Disciplinary Foot Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and may be required to support other podiatry teams located in B&H within the same directorate.
The post holder will also establish and maintain effective working relationships with health professionals in both primary and secondary care. They will work alongside the Team Lead Podiatrist to develop their clinical skills, including the rest of the team comprising of Band 7 and Band 6 Podiatrists, to ensure the provision of high quality specialist podiatry care to patients.

To ensure the provision of a robust, integrated arrangement of care for diabetic feet within the community diabetes service and across the interface between Tier 3 and Tier 4 patients, providing a consistent high quality and a systematic approach to patient care.
The post holder will carry a high‑risk diabetic clinical caseload and use highly developed specialist skills to ensure patients receive the best evidence‑based care package.
The clinician will participate in regular Multi‑Disciplinary Team Meetings within the service, inputting into this forum of patient care.
The role requires triage of incoming referrals, ensuring they are allocated to the right level of specialty within the service, or referred on to other specialties, services or agencies as appropriate.
To clinically supervise Band 6 members of the podiatry team, acting as a clinical mentor, with responsibilities extending to students placed within the service and clinicians on rotation from the podiatry service. The post holder will be accountable, with the Lead Podiatrist, for the delivery of safe effective podiatric care within the pathway.
To participate in team meetings and regularly update the staff on developments within the field of diabetes.
To attend regional and local expert reference groups.
