Job Description:

Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Clearance Required: Active SC Clearance (used within the last 12 months)

Working Pattern: Full-time, with participation in a paid 24/7/365 on-call Rota (1 week on, 1 week off)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting a secure, cloud-based infrastructure critical for public sector services. The role involves hands-on engineering, ensuring service reliability, automation, and platform scalability. You will be part of a Level 3 support team and participate in a paid on-call rota for out-of-hours support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 3 support for a large-scale cloud platform in a regulated public sector environment
  • Participate in a paid out-of-hours on-call support rota (evenings, weekends, bank holidays)
  • Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
  • Support and enhance CI/CD processes for rapid, safe deployments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, implement changes, and improve system performance
  • Ensure infrastructure meets high availability, cost efficiency, and scalability requirements
  • Maintain operational documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Configuration management with Ansible
  • Experience with reverse proxy/load balancer: Nginx
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • Experience working in Agile teams using Git, Jira, and Confluence
  • Eligible for SC and NPPV3 clearance
  • Container orchestration with Kubernetes
  • Experience with HashiCorp tools: Vault, Consul, Packer
  • Monitoring and observability with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, VPCs, NAT Gateways, security groups, etc.
