Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable systems powering global operations. You will drive CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration on Kubernetes/OpenShift, and robust observability to ensure production resilience and performance.

You will guide junior engineers, enforce security across the delivery lifecycle, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business goals in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• 4 to 8 years of experience in software engineering, systems development, or DevOps with demonstrated delivery in complex technical environments.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling, including Git-based workflows, pipeline configuration, and automated build and deployment processes.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and OpenShift for container orchestration, including Helm chart development and cluster management.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration and shell scripting to support automation, system configuration, and operational tasks.
• Experience delivering and managing software projects end-to-end, from planning and design through to testing and production deployment.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and adapting to changing technical or business requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Git, Tekton, and Harness to accelerate and standardize software delivery across engineering teams.
• Build and manage containerized workloads on Kubernetes and OpenShift using Helm, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and production ready.
• Architect and maintain observability solutions — including log aggregation with Splunk and Elastic/Kibana, and metrics monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana — to give engineering teams real-time visibility into system health.
• Evaluate complex technical problems across application systems, business processes, and delivery pipelines, and develop engineering solutions that meet specific business requirements.
• Collaborate with development teams, business users, and technology stakeholders to define operating standards, resolve technical issues, and recommend engineering improvements.
• Develop and enforce security measures across the software delivery lifecycle, ensuring system design supports compliance with applicable policies and technical standards.
• Act as a technical authority for junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance, code review, and hands-on support to elevate team capability.

In this role, you will apply deep technical expertise across CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, cloud infrastructure, and observability to deliver resilient, high-quality software systems. Your work will directly shape how Citi’s engineering teams build, ship, and monitor production services across a complex and high-impact technology environment.

• Experience with AWS cloud services, including infrastructure provisioning, managed services, and cloud‑native deployment patterns.
• Background in observability engineering, including setting up APM tools such as AppDynamics or Datadog to monitor application performance in production.
• Experience defining and measuring SLOs and SLIs for production services, translating reliability targets into actionable monitoring and alerting strategies.
