Job description

On behalf of the Intellectual Property Office, we are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Remote (Occasional travel once per month to Newport Office).

Join IPO's transformation programme as a Senior DevOps Engineer, where you'll support a modern platform, modernise legacy systems and lead improvements to Azure DevOps and Terraform pipelines. You'll drive automation and embed DevOps best practices across the delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and manage Azure DevOps and Terraform pipelines deploying into Azure.
  • Configure and integrate DevOps tooling across CI/CD, source control, test automation, monitoring and security scanning.
  • Champion infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and shift-left strategies.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents using tools like Azure AppInsights and Log Analytics.
  • Collaborate on architecture, estimations, product planning and user stories creation in Agile ceremonies.
  • Mentor team members and promote repeatable, automated delivery practices.
  • Encourage the use of test automation and infrastructure-as-code within delivery teams.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience of working in a DevOps or iterative development culture.
  • Proven experience implementing continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) tools, including pipeline design and administration.
  • Experience embedding automated testing in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Service support including troubleshooting and incident resolution.
  • Experience in identification and tracking of risks and issues.
  • Knowledge sharing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience leading Releases through environments.

Technical Essential Requirements:

  • Terraform authoring, upgrading and refactoring for Azure.
  • Azure DevOps Repos and YAML Pipelines.
  • Deployment of Apps/APIs via Azure DevOps YAML Pipelines.
  • Azure platform experience including AppService.
  • Git.
  • Azure AppInsights and Log Analytics for Incident Investigation.
  • Scripting experience in at least two of: Python, Bash or PowerShell.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Dynamics 365 - Basic Understanding and deployment of software within existing Dynamics instances.
  • Azure Function Apps, Azure SQL Database, App Configuration.
  • Python.
  • Shift left strategy: security scans, code analysis, monitoring.
  • Build/deploy experience with .Net Project, React, Node.js.
