Job Description

DevOps Engineer

Newcastle upon Tyne (On-site / Hybrid)

Up to £80,000 + Package – Permanent

We’re building something special in Newcastle and we need the very best. This isn’t a role for average engineers — we’re only interested in outstanding DevOps talent with elite academic backgrounds (Russell Group or better), proven coding ability, and the hunger to solve big problems at pace.

You’ll be part of a team that sets the standard for technical excellence in the North East, working on complex challenges with real-world impact. If you’ve got the brains, the drive, and the curiosity, this is where you’ll thrive.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and automating infrastructure and environments at scale
  • Owning and evolving CI/CD pipelines that keep delivery fast and reliable
  • Building advanced monitoring, diagnostics, and automation solutions
  • Working side by side with business users to deliver at pace
  • Collaborating with some of the sharpest technical minds in the UK

Experience required

  • Strong coding ability in C#, Java, Python or similar
  • PowerShell or equivalent scripting expertise
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
  • Containerisation & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD tooling (TeamCity or similar)
  • Monitoring with ELK, Grafana or equivalent
  • SQL Server plus Windows & Linux administration
  • Minimum 2:1 degree in Computer Science (or related field) — ideally from a Russell Group university

Nice to have

  • Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Bitbucket)
  • Artifactory, Octopus Deploy
  • Static analysis tools (SonarQube)
  • Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • VMware and SAN knowledge

Why this is different

  • Join a high-calibre team in Newcastle where only the best make the cut
  • Work on projects with global significance and real-world impact
  • Own technical delivery from day one
  • Learn directly from industry-leading experts
  • Thrive in a culture that values curiosity, pace, and excellence

if you’re among the best — academically, technically, and personally — this is where you’ll be challenged and rewarded.
