Job summary

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) is recruiting a Senior DevOps Engineer for the TEI team. The role involves capability development, working with regional teams and partners, and proposing new tech to meet operational needs.

You will contribute to local and national projects, mentor on performance and CPD, and operate within a largely hybrid pattern with occasional travel across the national network.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience of programming, circa two years.
  • Experience of working on technical projects and solving complex problems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to pass and maintain DV vetting and enhanced security checks.
  • British nationality and UK residency for the past ten years (with exemptions).
  • Longer or unsocial hours may be required due to operational demands.

Responsibilities

  • We carry out capability development by adapting existing solutions or developing new ones to meet operational requirements.
  • We act as a subject matter expert, working with the regional team, local partners, the wider network, and commercial suppliers.
  • We take part in product research and proposals to push existing boundaries.
  • We work on both local and nationally coordinated projects to develop technology that will transform UK policing operations.
  • We support line management responsibilities for the DevOps Engineer post, including performance, welfare, and CPD, with full support and training provided.
  • We work in a highly collaborative team environment to deliver highly creative capability solutions.
  • We work in a largely hybrid pattern, with time split between SEROCU offices, occasional working from home, and travel to different locations across the national network for business purposes.

Job description

Salary: £56,351 - 56,351 per year

Requirements:
  • We require practical knowledge and hands‑on experience in at least one of the following areas: vulnerability research, exploit development, penetration testing, operating system internals (Windows, iOS or Android), database architecture, low level languages development (Assembly), electronics engineering, DevOps, or cloud architecture.
  • We require a degree-level qualification or equivalent deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals.

  • We require experience of working on technical projects and solving complex problems.
  • We require a full UK driving licence.
  • We require the ability to pass and maintain vetting level DV and a number of enhanced security checks.
  • We require British nationality and residency in the UK for the past ten years, subject to stated exemptions.
  • We require understanding that longer or unsocial hours may sometimes be needed due to operational demands.
