A Day in the Life

Medtronic - Digital Technologies is creating ambitious new products that bring connectivity, real-time guidance, and decision support to the operating room. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for our medical device development process. You will collaborate with developers, testers, and other stakeholders to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our systems. Join our dynamic team, based in the vibrant hub of Old Street, London. This role requires you to be in the office at least two days per week.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

1. Design, develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure an efficient and reliable development environment
2. Optimize compilation process of Docker images to decrease time to feedback
3. Facilitate the automated deployment of software to test devices to enable automated integration testing
4. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance and availability of our cloud systems and physical devices.
5. Plan, execute, and oversee the deployment of updates to critical devices, ensuring smooth rollouts even in environments with intermittent connectivity
6. Liaise with stakeholders in tech support, manufacturing, product, development
7. Research and evaluate new technologies and tools in the DevOps domain
8. Support, streamline and challenge established and implement new Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) workflows

Required Knowledge and Experience:

1. At least 5 years of experience as a DevOps engineer or an equivalent role
2. Experience working with physical devices
3. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.
4. Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, etc.
5. Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, etc.
6. Experience with cloud platforms and services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, etc.
7. Excellent scripting skills with Python, etc.
8. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
9. Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Experience in the medical device industry or other highly regulated fields such as automotive or aerospace is a plus. Additionally, familiarity with the deployment of AI models, including ML Ops, is desirable.
