About this opportunity…

Exciting opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Commercial Lending Platform. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting DevOps pipelines, tooling, and automation at a Feature/Lab team level, recommending the appropriate pipeline and tooling choices in line with Group Strategy.

We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help grow our business, improve client experience, and innovate how we work. Join our diverse team and make a difference to millions through brands like Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Bank.

What you’ll do
  • Accountable for DevOps implementations at a Feature team/Lab level, ensuring services are stable, scalable, and performant.
  • Collaborate closely with other DevOps specialists, engineers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Learn new techniques and programming languages; be a problem solver willing to leave your comfort zone.
  • Adopt a curious engineer mentality, owning problems and improving processes.
  • Support feature teams developing Java microservices, helping them improve continuously.
  • Support transition to containerization and cloud technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and simplify to deliver better products.
  • Mentor early career engineers and participate in technical interviews.
  • Use endorsed technologies and apply common build patterns to minimize technical debt.
  • Ensure service levels for all DevOps services are appropriate.
What you’ll need
  • Azure DevOps experience and enthusiasm for our Azure DevOps journey.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GIT, Nexus, Maven, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Harness.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Kibana.
  • Coaching skills to help feature teams adopt DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages like Node.js & React.
  • Understanding of technical architecture and microservice design principles.
It would be great if you had…
  • Experience with Kafka ecosystem and event-driven architectures.
  • Advanced Kubernetes skills, including ingress, service mesh, and stateful applications.
  • Experience with observability patterns using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Hands-on infrastructure automation experience with Terraform for Azure.
  • Ability to make architectural decisions related to CI/CD and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cloud security practices (DevSecOps).
