The Role:

This is a new onsite role at our Fareham premises, involving engineering test solutions for electro-mechanical products to ensure systems meet product requirements. The role encompasses managing the full lifecycle of test engineering activities, from defining test cases to developing test tools and executing tests. It requires broad engineering knowledge, creativity, and drive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting Test Engineers as a Senior Test Engineer.
  • Analyzing requirements and conformance specifications to derive test requirements.
  • Designing and planning test cases for electro-mechanical systems across development and production phases.
  • Managing workload within the team and with external third parties.
  • Closing workload packages, managing test reports, and supporting investigation conclusions.
  • Designing test jigs, harnesses, and software for test execution, including automation where appropriate.
  • Implementing data processing and analysis software to extract relevant results.
  • Managing internal test facilities and liaising with external test providers.
  • Executing tests safely and effectively.
  • Conducting fault finding and failure analysis.
  • Documenting and presenting results and findings.

Qualifications and skills:

  • HNC or Degree in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Competent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles.
  • Understanding of Software principles related to embedded systems and tool chains.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with National Instruments LabView and TestStand.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Visual Basic, C, C++.
  • Minimum 3 years in a test-focused role or test equipment development.
  • Proven experience in data capture and analysis.
  • Expertise in Verification & Validation processes and tools.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary systems (electrical, mechanical, software).
  • Knowledge of test equipment, platforms, and data logging.
  • Ability to produce high-quality test reports.
  • Innovative mindset with strong technical awareness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Leadership skills to coach, mentor, and prioritize workload.
  • Enthusiasm and proactive personality.
  • Additional desirable qualifications include:
  • Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering qualification, NI Certified Developer.
  • Experience with system engineering tools (EA, DOORS), offshore/subsea industry knowledge, product certification, and standards (CE, DNV).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with data archiving and customer-facing roles.
