Salary/Rate: £650 - £750 Inside IR35
Start Date: 26/05/2025

Company Introduction

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Development Manager to lead their software engineering function with a specific focus on projects involving Hubwise platform integrations or legacy systems running on AS400 (IBM iSeries). This individual will oversee a team of developers, manage key platform migrations or integrations, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions aligned with the business's strategic goals.


Job Responsibilities/Objectives

• Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of developers (onshore and offshore).
• Own the end-to-end delivery of complex software development projects involving Hubwise or AS400.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product managers, and stakeholders to define technical solutions.
• Drive modernisation initiatives including legacy system transformation and Hubwise platform integration.
• Ensure development best practices, agile methodologies, and secure coding standards are upheld.
• Monitor project delivery timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams and senior management, translating business requirements into technical deliverables.
• Manage vendor and third-party platform relationships (e.g., Hubwise).
• Oversee system performance and reliability, implementing improvements and proactive maintenance.
• Develop and implement a roadmap for system upgrades and technology stack evolution.

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Extensive software development experience, with experience in a leadership or management role.
• Proven experience working with Hubwise platform (wealth platform, custody systems, or trading APIs) or AS400 systems (RPG, COBOL, DB2).
• Strong understanding of financial services, investment platforms, or banking systems.
• Experience managing teams across multiple locations and time zones.
• Strong grasp of SDLC, Agile/Scrum practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep technical knowledge in legacy systems modernisation, system integration, and API architecture.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders.

Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

• Previous experience migrating from AS400 to cloud or modern stacks (e.g., Azure, AWS, .NET).
• Exposure to other wealth or trading platforms (e.g., FNZ, SEI, Avaloq).
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code.
• Financial services certifications (e.g., CFA, IMC) or technology leadership training.
