Job summary

Goodman Masson is seeking an experienced Senior Development Manager to drive residential-led development projects from inception to completion and through the defects liability period. You will oversee programme, cost, quality, risk and overall performance, chair meetings, and manage client relationships with external partners to deliver value.

The role requires strong commercial experience in planning, viability, procurement and contractor management, with a solid understanding of planning

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to join a leading housing and development organisation, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of residential-led development projects from initial identification through to completion and the end of the defects liability period.

The Role

You will:

• Lead and manage residential development schemes from inception through to completion.
• Take accountability for programme, cost, quality, risk and overall project performance.
• Manage project appraisals, cashflow, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Lead planning, procurement and contractor/development partner appointments.
• Attend and chair project and site meetings, acting as the client representative.
• Identify, manage and report project risks, contractual issues and variations.
• Ensure schemes comply with relevant policies, governance requirements and funding conditions.
• Identify opportunities for future development and contribute to wider business and development strategies.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong commercial experience across planning, viability, procurement and contractor management.
• A strong understanding of the planning system and relevant legislation.
• Experience managing complex development projects involving multiple disciplines and external partners.
• Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budget and cashflow management.
• Experience of partnership working, development agreements or joint ventures.
