Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead a portfolio of development and investment projects across the UK, with initial base in North Yorkshire and regular travel. You will own projects from acquisition through to completion, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure schemes are delivered on time and within budget, aligned with strategic objectives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and delivery-focused Development Manager to join a growing and entrepreneurial property business with an expanding portfolio of development and investment projects across the UK.

This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded development professional to take ownership of projects from acquisition through to completion, working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and external partners to ensure schemes are delivered on time, within budget and in line with the company's strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving projects forward, managing risk, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring developments progress efficiently through planning, design, procurement and construction phases.

Given the nature of the portfolio, the role will be based in North Yorkshire but will require regular travel throughout the UK to attend project meetings, undertake site visits and manage stakeholder relationships.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of development projects across multiple sectors and locations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Taking ownership of development projects from acquisition and feasibility through to practical completion and handover.
• Managing the development process, ensuring projects progress in accordance with programme, budget and business objectives.
• Appointing, managing and coordinating consultants, contractors and professional teams.
• Leading project meetings and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
• Monitoring project risks and implementing mitigation strategies to protect programme and commercial performance.
• Overseeing planning, design development, procurement and delivery activities.
• Reviewing project budgets, appraisals, cashflow forecasts and development programmes.
• Supporting due diligence activities on prospective acquisitions and development opportunities.
• Managing contractor performance and ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, health and safety obligations and company governance procedures.
• Producing regular project reports and updates for senior management.

About You

The successful candidate will be a proactive and commercially aware development professional with a strong track record of delivering projects and driving outcomes.

Applicants are likely to possess:

• Previous experience as a Development Manager, Project Manager, Development Surveyor or similar delivery-focused role.
• A proven track record of successfully delivering property or construction projects from inception through to completion.
• Strong understanding of the development lifecycle including planning, design, procurement and construction.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, appraisals and risk.
• The ability to work independently whilst managing multiple projects across different locations.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving capabilities.

A willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.
