Are you looking for something short term to keep you busy over the summer?

I'm working with a client looking for a highly capable and experienced Senior Development Manager to join a housing association in East London on a short-term contract.

You will play a key role in delivering a portfolio of residential and social housing schemes, ensuring progress across all stages of the development lifecycle.

This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially aware professional with strong knowledge of affordable housing delivery, stakeholder engagement, and project oversight.

Location: East London
Rate: £52.90 per hour (Inside IR35)
Contract: 9 Weeks (Potential for extension)
Sector: Housing Association – Residential & Social Housing

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of residential and affordable housing schemes from inception to handover
• Manage internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and consultants
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with regulatory and policy requirements
• Support the organisation’s objectives in expanding housing supply and improving outcomes for local communities
• Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on programme progress, risks, and opportunities
• Navigate funding, planning, procurement, and legal aspects of development

About You

• Proven track record as a Development or Senior Development Manager, ideally within a housing association or local authority setting
• Strong knowledge of affordable housing, social rent, shared ownership, and mixed-tenure schemes
• Confident managing large residential projects through all RIBA stages
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Able to hit the ground running and work independently with minimal supervision
• Available for an immediate or short-notice start
