Professional Technical Ltd. is seeking a Senior Development Designer to lead end-to-end design and development of POS display units for global retailers.

You will drive manufacturing direction, oversee overseas production partners, and ensure seamless transitions from prototype to mass production. Role requires strong DFMA knowledge, advanced SolidWorks skills, and a proven track record in plastic injection moulding and fabrication.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Product Design Engineer, Senior Product Development Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
• A relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• Strong background in POS / POP design (highly desirable).
• Expertise in design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
• Advanced knowledge of plastic injection moulding and plastic fabrication processes.
• High proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to produce complex, production-ready models and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including production, commercial, and overseas manufacturing partners.
• Leading design reviews and presenting engineering recommendations.
• Producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation, specifications and BOMs.

Job description

A global leader in point-of-sale (POS) innovation is seeking an experienced Senior Development Designer to join their high-performing engineering team in the East Midlands. This is a pivotal role within a business that partners with some of the most recognisable brands in retail, delivering complex, high-impact display solutions across plastic fabrication, injection moulding and advanced manufacturing processes.

As a Senior Development Designer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end design and development of sophisticated POS display units. You will play a key role in shaping technical direction, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative solutions for major global retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Leading the design and development of complex POS products from concept through to production, utilising expertise in injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, vacuum forming and other manufacturing processes.
• Driving DFM strategy and overseeing overseas manufacturing development, working closely with international suppliers, production partners and cross-functional teams.
• Managing prototyping and production, ensuring seamless transition from prototype to mass manufacture while maintaining quality, cost and performance targets.
• Championing engineering best practice, conducting technical reviews, identifying improvements and ensuring robust documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
