About the Role:

We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Development Chemist to join our R&D team in East Yorkshire. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and improving formulations for lubricants, metalworking fluids, and related industrial products. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in new product development, customer support, and driving technical excellence within a growing and dynamic company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and develop new lubricants and metalworking fluid products in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Improve existing formulations to enhance performance, reduce cost, or meet new specifications.
  • Conduct laboratory testing, product evaluations, and quality control of formulations.
  • Collaborate with sales, production, and technical service teams to support customer requirements and scale-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of research, formulations, and test results.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory and industry developments in the field of tribology and chemical manufacturing.

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience in the formulation and development of lubricants, metalworking fluids, or industrial oils.
  • Strong laboratory skills and knowledge of testing methods relevant to tribological fluids.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of REACH, CLP, and HSE requirements for chemical products.
  • Experience working with customers in technical support or product trials.
  • Familiarity with synthetic lubricants, emulsifiers, additives, and base oils.
