Additional Allowance: This salary range (£51,093 - £54,129) applies for a standard 35-hour week. Offers above £54,129 may include a market supplement, up to £69,068.36.

The Role

We are hiring a senior developer to work with various software stacks, including:

  • AWS
  • Docker
  • LAMP stacks
  • Local Gov Drupal and other PHP-based CMSes

Responsibilities include:

  • Building web and mobile web products to serve user needs
  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable code
  • Setting and ensuring adherence to software development standards
  • Identifying performance issues and bugs, devising solutions
  • Maintaining code quality and automation
  • Mentoring junior developers
  • Working across multiple product teams
What You’ll Do
  • Implement development standards for the council
  • Utilize open-source, cloud-based technologies for agility
  • Monitor performance against standards and architecture
  • Ensure services meet GDS standards or peer review
  • Iterate services continuously in live environments
  • Collaborate to improve technology systems
  • Use test-driven development or similar practices
