Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and competent Senior Developer with expertise in C#/.NET and a strong background in stakeholder engagement to work within a collaborative, cross‑functional team. You will have experience working on large scale complex products for retail customers or other external stakeholders. It is important that you have experience of “build” and “run” activities and be able to evidence how you support systems in production environments.

It is crucial that you can demonstrate a proven track record in understanding and addressing complex business problems as we do not have business analysts within our team. You will be adept at translating business requirements into technical work that achieves desired business outcomes and will be able to work closely with the product owner and developers to prioritize and negotiate tasks effectively.

As a Senior Developer, you will be able to articulate and advocate for architectural patterns, engineering and testing principles to drive our product forward as we scale.

Role Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements and translate them into user‑facing features using .NET (C#) and Python.
• Work closely with other members of the Individual Retirement Solutions team (including business stakeholders) to understand the logic and rationale behind the Retirement Pathway.
• Participate and contribute to the go‑to‑market strategy for this new business line.
• Own features and releases to ensure they are delivered as quickly as possible without compromising on quality.
• Take a security first approach to development to protect sensitive data and Insight’s reputation.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Inform and improve our testing strategy, working with other developers and QA to evolve our test suites (Unit, Integration and Automation tests).
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team by enhancing our delivery process and coding efficiency.
• Work closely with Insight’s existing technology organization to ensure corporate standards and regulatory requirements are met.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
• Participate in and, where appropriate, lead meetings with business stakeholders.

Experience Required

Essential

• Desire to make a real‑world impact in people’s lives and do the right thing for our clients.
• Take initiative and ownership over outcomes (including working directly with business stakeholders to understand and define requirements).
• Ability to collaborate with existing technology teams where external dependencies are required.
• Intellectual curiosity and constant desire to improve knowledge.
• Proficiency in .NET (C#).
• Experience with Python.
• Fundamentals and approaches: OOP, SOLID principles, TDD/BDD/ATDD.
• Experience in agentic coding with LLMs and how this fits into the SDLC.
• Knowledge of event sourcing, ideally with Eventuous.
• Experience with message‑driven architecture, ideally with Azure Service Bus.
• Experience with Azure PaaS services.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Workflows).
• Knowledge of security best practices for web development.
• Pair/Mob programming and performing peer code reviews.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred

• Experience with React and JavaScript.
• Experience with Playwright for automation testing.
• Experience working with SQL.
• Experience in the financial services industry.
