Job summary

The Department for Transport's Digital, Information and Security Directorate is seeking a Senior Developer to design, build and improve modern, user-focused digital services that support critical government operations from Leeds.

You will lead development across complex projects, mentor colleagues, and champion best practices in software engineering and agile delivery, contributing to resilient, secure services.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software development experience in modern web or digital services.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and driving continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of agile delivery and software engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Planning and leading development on sets of related stories.
• Understanding the whole system and teaching it to others.
• Working with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built.
• Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.
